**Q: Works on a wood burning stove?**
A: Hope so. That is why I bought it. Painted it with hi-temp paint install tomorrow.

**Q: Would the 8" fit in ours that measures 8.3"? Wasn't sure if this cap would be too small**
A: No I don’t think it would fit. The pipe itself is 8 inch and the gasket is not even 1/2 an inch filler to prevent leaks.

**Q: how does the vent insert and hold in place**
A: All dependent on what you are attaching it to.  I used this to provide cover for a vent pipe on my roof and attached it to the vent pipe with sheet metal screws.

**Q: I have rain going down the pipe now hopefully this locks in  ? without special screws ? one i previously bought had no fastening screws can’t use it ?**
A: No screws needed, you just shove it down into the stove pipe and it has a rubber seal to keep it secure and in place.
