At first, I could hardly do these 'walks' and 'sequences', becoming exhausted after just a short practice of about 15-minutes. Then, as by body adapted, first my fingers and hands opened, then my arms, then my back, etc. - you get it. It became so interesting that my mind didn't want to stop the practice (sequences). One thing that the author misses, and seems endemic on YouTube vids of these exercises, is that to get the 'correct' benefit, the practitioner has to internally smile a gentle smile (as if outdoors in the sunshine on a perfect day). Also, I practice Yi Jin Jing (Chinese Qi Gong Association version) as well, in parallel, so this helps with the accessory movements included in the 'sequences' descriptions. Also, there might be a movement missing, where the brain is energized by tapping at the base of the skull - seems natural that this should be included at the beginning of the in the 'Diving Dragon' movement of 'Swimming Dragon' sequence (based on Yi Jin Jing). In my book, Damo Mitchell is right up there with Bruce Frantzis and Mantak Chia with respect to the quality of his work and the impact it has had on my practice. For those who may be wondering about my agenda. I have none. I am grateful for the material presented in this book. I don't know and have never met Damo Mitchell, but I know enough from his writings to trust him implicitly in sharing material of the highest quality and which is based on his knowledge and EXPERIENCE. His authenticity is impeccable. He knows what he's talking about, he says it clearly and his generosity in sharing his knowledge is inspirational. His use of written directions and line drawings to explain the exercises are highly effective, but his sharing of internal, i.e., energetic feelings which may accompany the exercises is over the top. They provide validation to those of us who have practiced for awhile, a lighted path ahead that we can pursue with confidence, and inspiration for less experienced practitioners on the path. With his guidance, progress is under the control of the reader and is limited only by the consistency of practice. I think that the more you have separated yin from yang in your previous internal artwork, the less you will find this a new and different style. More specific, I have seen a great deal of difference in the levels of yang expression in various TJQ practitioners. I suppose that I am one who strives for the ultimate relaxed-yang expression, and so I find that Damo Mitchell's Dragon Dao Yin forms have a great deal in common with, for example (and at least, for me) , Pat the High Horse, and Step Back and Repulse Monkeys.There is a great deal of TCM information in this book, as well, and this is well worth having. If you have previously acquired Heavenly Streams, and acquire D.Dao Yin, you will have references for many acupressure etc. points, and how TCM understands elemental balance, harmony and unblocked energy flow, and so on, as the basis of good health.I find Dao Mitchell's writing generally clear and understandable. A clarification of what are the "Congenital Meridians" would have been appropriate in this volume, but one can find this in a little time spent on online research. The distinction is implied, but not spelled out in this book, and some of us need it spelled out. Most of us will always benefit from renewed emphasis on breathing, and that is included here, as well.
