Review: Great product for my outdoor kitchen - Great product, all hardware included easy install
Review: Great for our patio! - We added 3 sail shades to our new patio last month. So far, the installation was simple and done with 2 people. All parts were included and the shade material is a nice sturdy fabric (we went with the water resistant heavier fabric). They have provided good shade and let enough light in so our plants and indoor kitchen still have enough light. The shades do need to be fastened open or they will slide back. The only problem we have had is the fabric tape has already shown wear and tearing in multiple places. We have had winds up to 20 miles per hour, which is normal for our area. We would have liked to leave the shades extended, but if the tape is not going to hold up we will have to close them more often. This means getting out the ladder, as you have to fasten them open. Not ideal, so only 4 stars. They look very pretty and dress up our patio nicely.

**Q: What is the actual width of the 4' shades?  Is allowance made for an inch or two between adjacent shades?**
A: The width is actually 4'. You need to consider how far apart your shades will be. Ours are about 2 inches apart.
P.S. - This has completely changed how I feel about my deck. It is now my happy place!

**Q: I would need to attach to stucco.  Any special steps to protect the integrity of the stucco? Thanks for your help!**
A: I didn't even trust going into the fascia board so I added a 2x4 ledger (pressure treated) that I screwed into the fascia and finished in a clear wood cedar stain to match my patio and what the shades are attaching to.  You could include an adhesive if you wanted to be more confident but mine went through a tornado last year and actually held up.  The fabric did not rip, the ledger held but I had most of my cables stretch several feet.  I just finished tightening them up last week and all is good as new.  If 2x4 is too much for you a 1x4 would probably work.  As long as the work is done professionally, it will not stand out when the shades are in use.  Pre-drilling is the key to keeping it as tidy as possible.  Good luck.  The only part of the system that is not good are the ribbons that are used to keep the span equidistant.  All of mine ripped year one and I have not replaced them.  The material is way too thin.

**Q: Why does my "strong cable" sag so badly?**
A: Three reasons I found are:
1. I did not tighten the screws on the cable brace enough
2. The more I had bulled back the shades, the weight concentrated on one side started to loosen the screws in the brace.
3. We have a lot of wind where we live

**Q: What are the widths on hole settings for the 4' wide shades?**
A: There are 3 holes on each end of the rods between the folds.  The wire rope or cable should approximately match the width of the holes.  I think they were about 30, 32 and 34 inches apart.  It allows for quite a bit of flexibility in spacing of the brackets which hold the cables.

I installed three of these on our new pergola we built for our patio. They were easy to install and I am very happy with the results. Keep in mind that a strong wind gust could move them around when extended. They do a good job with providing shade and keeping the rain off of you so you can be outside more.
