The first layer of this case is hard and firm Which is good to protect the back from damage. The second layer is the silicone. The silicone is thick, not thin. I do not own an apple pen so I can not go into great detail about the pen holder. The stand for the phone is amazing. If you have a hard time opening items because of a medical condition I do not suggest this for you. The stand can be a little hard to open at first but after a while it opens nicely. The stand does not pop off easily (it does not come off the case). You don't have to worry about it snapping off or the phone falling when trying to use the stand. It is honestly an extremely good case. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hard to open kickstand would look for something different for kids *by J***9 on Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2020* The silicone case around the hard case is flimsy and honestly easily comes off. You have to press around it all the time to make sure it stays on. The kickstand is really hard for kids to pull out as it requires a lot of force and nails to be honest. It does seem to protect it pretty well which is why I’ll give it 4 stars. The color is nice as well.
