Continuing a great series
If you have enjoyed the other Snyder's novels, then you will love this one right along with them. Great story, fast paced, lots of action. It just keeps you hooked. I just couldn't put the book down until I finished it. The only down-side is that we have to wait until 2011 for the next book in the series. And I can't wait. I'm dying to know what else is going to happen next. If you love magical fantasy novels all of Snyder's novels are for you. She really knows how to hook a reader and to keep them coming back for more.

Disliked the changes in some characters but still enjoyable story
I would give this book 3.5 stars.I really wish I had re-read Storm Glass before reading this one but I still really enjoyed. There were a few things I had forgotten but I quickly slipped back into Opal's world. I found Opal much more irritating this time around. She was too head strong and whiny for my tastes but you did have to start feeling sorry for her as one bad thing after another seemed to happen to her. Things also heat up in the fight for Opal's love. Kade is his usual strong, caring and supportive self but Devlin really surprised me. I actually felt myself starting to like him and wonder if Opal might be better off with him as he doesn't have conflicting duties like Kade does as a storm dancer. The plot intrigues in this sequel will keep you wanting to turn the pages to find out what is really going on and who can Opal really trust. I have to admit there were a few plot twists that I did not see coming. What bothered me the most about this book though was the change in Ulrick's character. The change in him even knowing that he is now in a body that craves blood magic doesn't seem to account for is complete turnabout in how he views Opal. Yes, I can understand some bitterness but the fact that he seemed to contain not even an ounce of affection or friendship with her just seemed strange. Maybe I'm forgetting more than I thought from Storm Glass but this just struck me as odd. Still I really enjoyed this read and the ending really has me wondering what will happen with Opal in Spy Glass.

A very enjoyable read
A great continuation of the trilogy. Great twists. I love the characters and their journeys. The writing is interesting and moves quickly. I can't wait to read the last book in the series. I highly recommend the book for any one who likes a magical story that enjoys a little romance mixed in. The world in the story really comes alive as the story develops/

Poor Opal
This is the second in the 'Glass' series by Maria V Snyder and takes place in the same world as her 'Study' series with occasional appearances of characters from that first trilogy.I enjoy all of Maria V Snyder's books to an extent, but this is turning into my least favorite series. Poor Opal just can't catch a break. There is quite a bit of politically motivated action and quite a bit of 'what were you thinking???' action on the part of Opal. She always seems to get taken in which Opal thinks is because of her too-trusting nature. But sometimes I think she just doesn't think things through or she didn't have enough information at hand to make a sound decision. But nearly every decision she makes comes back to bite her in the behind. Things do turn out well for her in the end but only after being repeatedly kidnapped or arrested, doubted and discouraged. The book has underlying themes of trust and at one point Opal's 'People-to-trust' list is comprised of maybe two people which for Opal (and me for having the broad overview) was depressing.Character development was also a key concept. Opal & Devlin in particular made huge strides in their respective personalities.I just hope that in book 3, Opal gets vacation time and some kind of decision is made as to whether she'll actually end up with Kade or the newly-changed Devlin...

Toughest of the series so far!
Honestly I had a hard time with this one. So far the series has been captivating and the characters believable enough that I could sit back and enjoy the story. During this book, however, I was frequently frustrated by the main character acting irrationally naive. I also had a difficult time with logic jumps or behavior of other characters that didnβt seem very realistic and would break my suspended disbelief.

Glass magic in a troubled teenager
This is the second book in the Glass Trilogy, a companion series to the Study Trilogy. Opal has learned more about her powers, and the Council is troubled by her abilities. She is frustrated by her information on blood magic and the apparent body switch that occurred to her friend Ulrick that no one believes. For most of the book, Opal's personality is all over the place, and she reminds me of a confused teenager. At times, the character was hard to empathize with and seemed so different from her prior appearances. She is dealing with finding her own place in the hierarchy and with those who love and care for her. The mysterious Sea Glass does not appear until late in the story, and seems to be more of a set-up for the final novel in the series. While there were many scenes of capture and escape, there were some unexpected twists and turns to the plot. There were also a few threads of plot that were mentioned but not fully developed (the magic diamonds encased in glass, for example). I hope that the third book will bring things together in an interesting conclusion.

Meandering, but enjoyable
My main problem with this book can be boiled down to one sentance: Opal is whiny. She feels so freaking sorry for herself that there was no room for me to feel sorry for her.The other problem is that this is definitely a middle book. While quite a bit goes on, very little really happens. Plenty of wandering around, introduction of several ideas that area going to be important later, but not a whole lot of importance gets accomplished.Other than that, though, it's a pretty good story. I'm really enjoying the way Devlen's character is moving along, in particular. Is he a good guy, or is he just pretending? I'm not sure yet, and neither is Opal, which is keeping us both very confused. My favorite part of this book is the bit with Janco, who I loved in the Study books. Too bad Opal already has more love interests than she needs...

Another great trilogy!
Second in this series (Storm Glass, Sea Glass then Spy Glass) and is just as good as the first book. This is another "keeper" series for me along with the previously released Study series. Excellent story, great pacing, just an all-around great read.

Great sequel to Storm Glass, worth the read. Surprising twists in the character development.Perhaps slightly overcomplicates at times.
