The adorably illustrated characters have perfectly animated expressions and the story lines are usually sweet with an underlying audience-appropriate lesson or solution to dilemmas. But the story of "Duck Duck Goose" did not have that underlying good lesson – it addresses a very real dilemma that most children face at some point, but does not have a positive solution to the dilemma.In this story, Duck makes a new friend (Thistle, the grey duck) and Goose feels replaced by this new friend (a very real feeling that lots of children face). Thistle happens to be very competitive, to a point of hurting her budding friendships (also a very real dilemma that lots of children fall into the habit of). But rather than having a healthy "aha" solution to help children learn how to handle these feelings and dilemmas, the book's resolution comes by way of Duck and Goose tricking Thistle into falling asleep behind a bush, at which point Duck and Goose sneak away to play without her. This story breeds meanness and exclusion. Not something I'm about to read lightheartedly to my daughter. ### ⭐ Duck and Goose in need of guidance *by S***D on Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2019* We’ve gifted four other Duck and Goose books to our two+ year old granddaughter. We read them often. When we close the books she points to the miniature titles on the back, and likes pointing out the ones she already has in the series.I’m relieved I read this latest one I ordered before we gave it to her. I was unpleasantly surprised with the tone of the book and its conclusion which made me think of middle-school kids who could benefit from a little guidance.I’m sorry to agree with the reviewer who said the book “breeds meanness and exclusion”. I asked for and received a refund but I wish the author would revise the book to offer a kind and hopeful outcome to yes, the real issue he presents in the beginning. ### ⭐ Dont like this one. *by A***A on Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2019* My least favorite of the series. The only one so far that I dont like actually. I returned it cause I didn't like the storyline. They're competitive and I just didn't like it. It's not one I'll read with my kids.
