## Description

Paradise is an album about longing and desire and the ways in which the pursuit of fulfillmentcan keep it perpetually out of our reach a concept showcased on the album cover inthe image of a mule and carrot. The album is the Wood Brothers most sophisticated workto date and also their most rocking, with bassist Chris Wood playing electric on tracks forthe first time. Recorded at Dan Auerbach s Easy Eye studio in Nashville, Paradise capturesthe latest chapter in the ongoing evolution of a band and a family navigating thejoy and challenges of a life in music.Dubbed masters of soulful folk by Paste, The Wood Brothers released their debut studioalbum, Ways Not To Lose, on Blue Note in 2006. Chris Wood already had legions ofdevoted fans for his incomparable work as one-third of Medeski Martin & Wood, while hisbrother Oliver toured with Tinsley Ellis before releasing a half-dozen albums with his bandKing Johnson. Almost a decade later and with drummer Jano Rix added as a permanentthird member, it s become quite clear that The Wood Brothers is indeed the main act. Paradise follows the band s acclaimed 2013 release The Muse, which was hailed bythe New York Times for gripping vocals and by the LA Times for taught musicianship. Though both The Muse and Paradise were recorded in Nashville, Paradise marks thefirst album written with the entire band living in Music City.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    Great Band!

*by D***W on February 22, 2016*

This is one of those bands you can't believe you don't hear more about. Chris Wood, Oliver Wood and Jano Rix are some of the most talented musicians out there. How do you describe their sound? Well, they play real instruments (Google the phenomenon that is the shuitar played by Jano Rix), sing real vocals, and create real music that captures what you're feeling on your best and worst days. It's that "grab a chair and sit a while" folk lyric that invites you in. But it's the band's soul that grabs you. This album rocks harder than previous albums and that's just fine. After you check out "Never and Always" and "Singin to Strangers" buy this album. Then go ahead and treat yourself to any and all Wood Brothers music you can get your hands on like The Muse, Smoke Ring Halo, and their live albums Sky High and Nail and Tooth. You will wonder how you got through a day without belting out "Sing About It" or "One More Day" or "Luckiest Man" like an honorary Wood Brother.

    Great Standalone Album

*by A***Y on November 13, 2015*

My favorite album of theirs is still 'Smoke Ring Halo,' but this album is another great release and stands on its own. Each Wood Brothers album has a slightly different feel to it in my opinion, but if you like one, you'll probably like the rest. If you have the opportunity, do yourself a favor and see them live! They put on a fantastic, energetic show.

    listening is "Paradise"

*by G***E on December 13, 2016*

Great album! The Wood Brothers are some of my favorite lyricists. The quality of the recording is stellar - sounds more like a live performance than one that's heavily edited. There's not a bad track on the whole album. An excellent follow up to Muse.
