Unfortunately, the plastic gear is not bonded to the metal insert, so once your mixer is back together you can start it up, grab the head with your bare hand, and stop it. Stop it right there. The motor and its worm gear and this gear will happily continue to spin around that metal insert. This ensures you will never again strip out that plastic gear by dropping something in the bowl of your mixer. It also means you will never again mix up cookie dough, bread dough, or pretty much anything the thicker side of egg whites. If you use your Kitchen Aid to make dough, stay away from this. You can get the real part for under $10 from a local distributor, do the job once, and mix cement if you so fancy. So yeah, it fits just fine and arrived in perfect shape and has all that going for it. But it won't, you know, transfer power. As an industrial engineering major in college I heard somewhere that transferring power was the whole purpose of gears.
