It's my new favorite face oil. I was SHOCKED to see someone say they don't like the smell. I could not agree less. It smells floral or fruity, literally it's lovely and it's a smell that's actually grown on me over time so I like it more now than I did initially. This comes straight from a fruit, your whole biology is set up to like it. It's delightful. The most important thing to me is that it's a thick almost Vitamin E like natural oil that has TONS of natural fats in it that are great for your skin. I hope it gives me the long term benefits I'm looking for (anti-aging) but short term I can say that it's a thick, nurturing, hydrating oil that's unbelievably healthy for the skin and once it soaks in (which takes longer than less effective oils) you really do feel effects. Long term it's supposed to be one of the few things that can thicken thinning skin, in other words, boost collagen and the like. Ooooh do I hope that's true. I can say it's so different from all my other face oils that it does seem possible. This version does make my eyes tear up if it gets too close, so that's too bad since like most people I NEED help around the eyes but I just grin and bear it. Both the Leven Rose (LR) and Lagoon Essentials brands claim to be "cold-pressed" and "unrefined", but the difference in the character of the two oils is stark.The LR pomegranate oil had a very faint aroma and a light oil. I mixed it 1:4 with argan oil to use in my hair. I liked the smell, and wanted to increase the pomegranate fraction from 1:4 to 1:2, and the LR oil was pretty pricey, so I looked around for a less expensive brand.I decided to try switching to Lagoon pomegranate oil because I could get a bottle twice as large for the same price as the LR oil. When I opened it, I was pleasantly surprised by the thickness of the Lagoon oil; much thicker than the LR oil. The color was quite a bit darker. However, I was less pleasantly surprised by crystals on the dropper (perhaps from residual sugars?) The smell of this oil is much stronger, too, somewhat nutty, somewhat like flax-seed oil. The smell is not altogether unpleasant, but it is much stronger than the LR oil, and I don't like my hair smelling like it. Even at 1:4 mixture with argan oil, the smell remains quite noticeable all day long; I never seem to go nose-blind to it, and I expect that other people smell it clearly. This particular oil is super thick and rich which I like, however the smell of the oil is dense, with no trace of the original fruit source in the smell, (which could be normal), and the smell borders on almost rancid. I'm not familiar with pomegranate seed oil, so I'm not sure if it is or not. Also, the amber bottle and dropper leak a bit after use. And I have not found the oil to be as skin nourishing as I'd like. It's not the miracle in a bottle I was hoping for, but then I guess what is? :/ I don't love it, I wish I did! The company outreach is cheerful, but after a while could end up being annoying spam. When they sent the product they also emailed me an e book with all kind of useful tips on using the oil. I was especially curious when it mentioned the Health benefits of ingesting the oil, I was going to try it, but given the strong odor I hesitated, and checked the bottle only to find that my oil was not to be taken internally. I don't know if this company sells food grade pomegranate oil, but if they don't they shouldn't send out a book raving about the health benefits of taking the oil internally.
