Will these help with that?** A: I would give these a try. These are the most comfortable and durable insoles (in my opinion) in the market. I have been using them for many years and they are very comfortable. I wear cowboy boots everyday and are on my feet most of the day. I always have these in my boots. I find that they provide cushion to the entire foot. **Q: Can Spenco Rx Comfort Soles be TRIMMED to the correct size? I'm a 6 1/2 so I need a size 7-8?** A: I wear a 11 1/2 running shoe and the 10-11 is too small. I am ordering the 12-13 and will trim as needed. I have trimmed them before and they were great. While I am not all that familiar with the Active Series insoles, the differences between these and the Spenco Comfort Replacement insoles are apparent. The Spenco Comfort insoles are a thin (5/32" thick), flat cushioned insole with no arch support made of the SpenCore material, whereas the Dr. Scholl's Active insoles are "designed to support your foot while in motion." The Dr. Scholl's Active insoles offer a deep heel cup and arch support, and they appear to be a bit thicker than the Spenco Comfort insoles. I wouldn't say that one insole is better than the other, as they are both quite different from one another - the insole that will work for you would really depend on the type of insole you are looking for (flat and cushioned, or supportive and cushioned) and the type of shoes you will be using the insoles with. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very helpful for reducing excess shoe width *by on Reviewed in the United States April 6, 2018* Like many people, one of my feet is a bit wider than the other. My workaround is to buy the shoe width of the wider foot, then reduce the width of the other shoe by using one of these inserts. In most cases, this works perfectly.So, about this Spenco insert, it's completely flat, thus retaining the original contour of the shoe--in my case, this is a benefit, since I'm only trying to take up space, not change anything otherwise. The insert is well made of good materials, lasts quite a while, and is usually well suited to my application. Its added cushioning underfoot is another plus.A note. Sometimes this insert does not work for me if the shoe fit of the smaller foot is closer to begin with and the insert reduces the width too much, making the shoe tight. Spenco formerly made a different insert that took care of this problem. It was identical to the insert now under review, but was even thinner. Spenco called it their "dress shoe" insert and it was maroon or purple in color. The rubberized bottom is perfect for this purpose as the insert does not slide around. Unlike several other flat insoles I’ve ordered this one is substantial in thickness and is very durable. It is comparable to the insoles I purchased from GoodFeet for $35. The surface that touches the foot is flat and smooth but not slippery. The bottom is rubberized. The insole itself is very comfortable and provides a small amount of cushioning. The best part is that they seem to be antimicrobial and keep my feet dry while I’m wearing them. They don’t take up too much space in my shoes. I found that the size 7 fits just fine in my 6.5 shoe (there was a $6 increase in price for the 6.5 size at the time of my purchase so I ordered the 7 and planned to trim but no need).These are great basic insoles for people who have a custom orthotic or other arch support to lay them over. I would not recommend them for use by themselves. They are flat and intended to be used over a custom support. These are not meant to provide support on their own. They are meant to lay flat over your own supports. I find them perfect for that purpose and after wasting a bunch of money trying to save money I simply paid the $15 for a single pair. Yes I wish they were less expensive but I think they are probably worth the $15. I had similar ones that lasted for over a year (even with regular washing) and my hope is that these will last too. I will update on any major changes in my opinion about the product but as of right now I really like them and I think they are fairly priced. I caution anyone who is looking for a supportive insole against these as they are simply not meant to be worn alone. If you are looking for support these will not work.
