But I moved my usual dose up to thrice daily & am pleased with the results—no lump, no pain. No one has been sick which by now someone would have dragged home a cold or flu and it would have been passed around. I even have been giving it to my older dog for skin allergies, but have not seen too much of a difference with her unfortunately.I have looked around at the other brands. I will continue using this for our family. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cautiously optimistic *by on Reviewed in the United States June 28, 2014* After reading about the health benefits of beta glucans, I upped my intake of oatmeal (which contains a good amount of bioavailable beta glucans), and ordered this product. It's been about a week, but two curious things have happened. My wife caught some kind of bug from one of our grandkids, and was sick as a dog for five days. Normally, I would immediately get sick as well -- but in this case, I have been fine. The second odd thing was that some slow-healing minor wounds on my arm suddenly seemed to improve. I guess this could all just be coincidence, but I also notice an uptick in my energy level. I am less tired after workouts, getting by on less sleep. So I am cautiously optimistic about this product actually being of value. There is a great deal of unethical marketing of various beta glucan products online -- plenty of conflicting claims, "scientific studies" that nakedly plug products, and sky high pricing which in my opinion is basically taking advantage of the desperation people feel when they get seriously sick. So shop carefully. Jarrow is a brand I have long trusted, and it seems reasonably priced for the dosage. I will update this review periodically as I continue using the product.UPDATE: I've now been using this, as well as other beta glucan products, for 3 months. In that time, despite frequent exposure to sniffling grandkids and other family members, I have not been sick a single day. My wife, who doesn't take beta glucan has had at least two long-term colds in that time. So I am starting to believe this stuff really does stimulate the immune system. Bear in mind, I also eat a lot of oatmeal, oat bran, barley (great in soups), and Shitaake mushrooms (all good sources of beta glucan). Oddly enough, I have not seen any reduction in cholesterol from the use of this product -- but that wasn't the primary reason I was consuming beta glucan. If you are shopping for a brand, you will see a few very high-priced brands that make extravagant "scientific" claims for their proprietary methods of production. I have researched these brands pretty thoroughly and as far as I can determine, the "studies" that support them are bogus, bought and paid for by the manufacturers. You simply want to make sure that you are getting as much of the long-branched B1,3/B1,6 glucans (usually listed as a percentage on the label) as possible for your money. In my opinion, Jarrow offers good value, as do a number of other relatively unknown brands you will find online.
