Numerous French Huguenots followed him.As a result of religious policies Calvin banned all jewelry, such as beads, bracelets, gold and gemstones. Consequently, goldsmiths and jewelers were forced to turn to a new craft - watchmaking. It was the perfect thing to do for these highly skilled artisans. Many of them moved north from Geneva and master mechanic Claude Bernard was one of them. He discovered the gorgeous, almost divine, high-plateau in the midst of the Jura headlands, a secluded mountain-range along the French border. As a tribute to his hometown Geneva (French Genève) he called this charming hideout “Les Genevez”. Most of the year Claude Bernard, like most of his companions, farmed to feed himself and his family. But during the long and harsh winter months, when the landscapes vanished under heavy snow and the brooks were covered with ice, Claude and his fellow craftsmen created watch masterpieces. The mechanics and skillful builders started to reinvent the workings of all kinds of timepieces. The original 16th century house where these skilled artisans used to gather and share their tools and ideas still exists. It has been carefully restored and today serves as a public museum. Swiss watch manufacturer Claude Bernard is honored to be a patron of the more than 450-year-old institution, which is so closely related to their own history. The movement in this automatic watch is the same as that used in many of the Omega wrist watches and at a fraction of the price. The watch comes in a large box with instructions, manuals and other promotional materials. The watch itself is stainless steel and the perfect size for a man's wrist without seeming too large. I would advise viewing other pictures on line of this watch as in person, while resembling the product picture here, it is thicker and appears a little different when you understand the depth.The band it comes with is brown and appears to be very high quality. I purchased a black band to put on it as I plan to wear with my suits and tux and wanted a matching band. You can get a variety of bands for this watch to change the flavor. So far I am very satisfied with this timepiece. It is a great looking timepiece and for the money (on sale big time on Amazon and other sites) it really makes me wonder why anyone would buy a battery watch from other watch makers when they can get something this nice. The overall look of the watch is beautiful and the white colour of the dial emphasizes the 'hands' of the watch. The leather strap is flexible, gentle on the skin and of very high quality. The deployment buckle is great but requires a little getting used to. Overall, a great watch that is worth the price. ### ⭐ No Tissot warranty and will eventually break. *by K***N on October 21, 2014* Day of week stopped working after 8 months. Seller (Watch your wrist) is impossible to get in contact with (phone or email) in order to file a warranty claim.You do not get a Tissot warranty with this watch (only authorized Tissot sellers get that) and instead have to depend on the seller so make sure the seller is reputable and will honor what 3rd party warranty they have.Overall watch is OK. Band is cheap and will start to get pretty raggedy about 2 months in. I have worn this watch for 8 months every day. Now that the day of week isn't working I wear it only about once a week. I would expect this watch's functions to deteriorate further with more use.Do not buy this watch if you expect it to be in your collection for more than a year.
