Does this have to be used with water color paper or can it be used on card stock and on fabric?** A: Hi there :) Do not use it on fabric. Watercolor in any form is not a permanent paint like acrylic. Even if it's for quilting or a wall hanging, watercolor and Gouache (which is essentially just opaque WC) isn't meant for fabric use, it will wash away when exposed to water and it will not hold up to any kind of handling on fabric. Use acrylic for such purposes. Card stock will be fine. Watercolor and gouache likes paper. The only thing stopping you would be if the paper is too lightweight and thin to handle water based media. Look for 140-200lb. cotton rag watercolor paper, it makes beautiful cards I hear. Regular cardstock if heavy, can handle light washes. **Q: Is the primary set good for a beginner?** A: Yes this primary set is good for a beginner. This set is best when mixing colors, where as other sets, when mixing you will not get true color mix. **Q: is the designer set of primary watercolor gouache light fast or should I be getting artist sets??** A: Designers gouache in general is made to provide bright and convenient colors but they’re not always lightfast. They’re often used for quick temporary works. If you use a lot of water, the paint’s lightfastness may be affected. (This also applies to any brand of watercolor or gouache.) If you want lightfast/archival gouache paints, research M Graham Gouache on their website. They explain about their unique paints. They have a color chart with lightfast information and most of them are lightfast. I was able to ask for samples from them and they’re really nice paints. I don’t know if M Graham does samples during the pandemic. I got their samples a little over a year ago. Basically, they make their paints with honey and use high quality pigments for longevity while Winsor and Newton use various ingredients to provide bright convenient colors. If you must use Winsor and Newton brand gouache, I strongly recommend looking up their color chart on their website and look for a roman numeral 1 and 2 for that color which are considered lightfast according to ASTM measures. While they are a little pricier than I would like, you really get what you pay for. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great price for the 10 Tube Introductory Set - Paint was Fresh in excellent condition *by P***S on June 15, 2019* The 10 tube Introductory set was in excellent condition. Price of $25.95 was a real steal for this high quality, artist grade gouache. DId NOT have any issues with the tubes. Paint appears quite fresh. As noted by some other reviewers the red tubes did appear to be slightly runny when first opened. That happens sometimes with tube paint but it isn't fatal. None of the tubes spurted paint out. None of the tubes were dried up. The paint was fresh, mixed cleanly and painted beautifully. Delighted! Update: Some people complained that the W&N Designers Gouache did not re-wet well. So I tested it. Left the gouache in a porcelain mixing palette for 5 days to test the re-wetability of this gouache. Took an eye dropper and dropped clean distilled water on the dried gouache. Came back about 5-10 minutes later and had no trouble stirring the paint and painting with it! Colors still look super pigmented and really pop! More than delighted now! Some do say that putting 4 drops of glycerin per half pan mixed with the gouache will help it re-wet more easily.
