I have written there in my review ( Kathleen Schatzel) how it works. Put very simply you throw a test paper in the toilet with your poop there. If it gets a blue + on the paper there is blood. My review explains more about the test kit and is worth reading. **Q: What percentage of this testing is accurate.? I saw another product that said 97% but was more complicated to use.** A: Package says it is accurate. Be sure to do the test strip in the toilet to make sure there is nothing in there to react with the test. Need a toilet that does not have cleaners such as 200O Flushes in it. This can cause a false reading. Otherwise, the test is easy to use. **Q: I found a dark spot on the cross but it wasn't blue or green. Is that a positive? It was a small line which was darker than the rest of the cross** A: The instructions I received in my test kit say it is a positive result if ANY part of the cross turns blue/green.
