## Description

Ampersand Art Supply’s Museum Series Aquabord is a professional watercolor painting panel featuring a highly absorbent clay and mineral ground with a texture similar to cold press watercolor paper. Because this ground is applied directly to a rigid Hardbord panel rather than mounted paper, the surface behaves differently from traditional watercolor substrates. It captures vibrant color, supports controlled washes, and allows artists to build endless glazes or lift color back to white for clean highlights and adjustments. Since pigment interacts at the surface of the clay and mineral ground rather than sinking into paper fibers, watercolor washes can appear naturally bright and luminous. Aquabord withstands repeated washes, glazing, and lifting without surface pilling or swelling. The rigid, warp resistant Hardbord core stays perfectly flat under heavy water application and requires no stretching, taping, or mounting. Artists can paint edge to edge without tape borders, and the panel remains completely stable during detailed work. Review: A blast to paint on! - I love everything about this watercolor panel! I used a combination of inktense and ohuhus new pupe markers, which both melted down and spread absolutely beautifully! It was my first time using a board like this, as most other watercolor boards I've used seemed to be more like generic canvas boards primed with watercolor ground. This is waaaay different to that or even canson watercolor panels... It's got a tight grainy texture, in a white coating on one side. There are no fibers as you experience in pulp paper or cotton papers... This is a very different experience, and I found even more room to lift and work with a full value scale more easily than on paper. This was true, even with my inktense pencils, long after they dried. I was even able to use some wet on wet techniques. I am particularly a fan of the price. One might think that it could get expensive, and that could be so, but for me, the value is in the ease of use and the joy it brings me. This did not fail in either department! I highly recommend these panels, which even fit depth wise in basic store frames!! I will be using these for all of my gifted works in the future!! Note: others mentioned that there's a learning curve, and they are not wrong... So go into using this as if the results will be a surprise and you won't be let down in any way!!!! *I added a second picture of the pond, but a year later. I found it to be just as enjoyable and perfect for my needs. I used a combination of inktense pans and pencils, blended with the opacity of a few - select - acrylic markers, marked and then bled out like watercolors. What a blast to paint on!

I love everything about this watercolor panel! I used a combination of inktense and ohuhus new pupe markers, which both melted down and spread absolutely beautifully! I had never used these kind of boards before. They are study, don't warp, and have kind of a sandy texture. Plan of getting a larger size. More expensive than paper, but nice when gifting a painting.
