The technician actually put a cuticle softener on my feet and let it sit and then she used a heavy duty file to file off the excess skin. I have adopted doing this with these sturdy files since I do not feel comfortable getting pedicures at this time. I use the files roughly to file the dead skin from my feet and they do not break. I use them to file my nails as well but not as rough and I am very pleased. I buy these in bulk because i typically file my feet a few times a week now with it being so cold my feet are more dry now. Thanks!** A: I use them to shape my nails in between manicures. **Q: Where are these manufactured?** A: They are made in China. My advise is DO NOT BUY!!! I was extremely disappointed with this order and returned them!! Six emery boards arrived in a plastic sandwich type bag with a small sticker stuck on the bag indicating they were made in China. The packaging was very poor and I did not feel comfortable using them as they obviously were not packaged by a machine and I did not consider them to be sanitary. They work very well to get rid of split nails, chipped nails, or nails that are just slightly too long. I have had a problem forever with biting my nails. Now I have been able to stop.
