I was not just pleasantly surprised, but actually shocked by its effectiveness, since I didn't even add any vegetable oil to help the repellant "stick". We do still see a few mosquitoes flying around, but even if they fly near us, they fly right by, not zeroing in on us. But, we don't see hundreds of mosqitoes and other flies within the sprayed perimeter. Beetles are relatively undeterred, so hopefully our firefly population is going to be unaffected.
