You don't say which Hitachi router you have. The newer Hitachi routers don't have a base plate drilled to accept these bushings, they have a bushing adapter that screws onto the base plate. I don't know if Hitachi's adapter accepts porter cable bushings or not...you'd have to check Hitachi's website or your router manual. The other option is to purchase an after market base plate for your router that is drilled to accept "Porter Cable style" guide bushings. I'd argue this is far more common than the 1/4" radius included in that kit. So, it's required to buy this with a 1-1/4" bit, and it works.I should mention that it works after spending some time trying to mount this and the bit on the router. Your mileage may vary, but I'm using a Bosch Colt trim router with the plunge base for this. This isn't the fault of the guide, but the 1-1/4" bit is too wide to plunge through it. So, you have to install the plunge base and guide on the router, and then feed the shank of the bit through to the router. The cutter head for this sized bushing is such that it will not fit through the bushing so you have to Attach the collet to the base, slide the shaft of the router bit through the bushing and tighten the bit with everything in the way. This is not the fault of the bushing. It is just the way it works with the large bit. There are other bits and bushings out there, but this set up in the specific application I had was the only way.
