I suggest when you buy them give them a lot of wiping before first use, or that the manufacturer does it before packaging. I'm happy with the laces, it's sort of what you want in a heavy pair of boots as long as you know what you are getting. The boots that meet the PPE requirements had laces fitted that were quickly cut up by eyelets that cut through the laces outer sleeve and then into the lace itself. These laces are amazing. I agree with other commenters who say they need double tying, but I was used to doing that anyway so it's not an issue for me. I didn't have the experience of colour coming off the laces onto my hands. These are great laces. Very strong, easy to tie, stay tied. Work with normal lacing methods, likely to need double knotting but who's not doing that already? They don't hurt your hands, the other reviewers most be overly sensitive. They unlace easy enough, you don't need to pull them through every loop.
