Wisdom only for those who are ready for it.
Ramana Maharshi, at this time in on my path, has been my most beneficial guru, with his direct path to enlightenment, however, Nisargadatta Maharaj, who lived during the same times, is also a great guru, who's wisdom can benefit anyone on the path toward enlightenment and the end of the illusion of the veil of the suffering and sorrow of this illusion Maya. I highly recommend this book of Maharaj's as well as any of those by the teachings of Maharshi. I know fully that all find the path that is best for them when they are ready.

Nisargadatta Throws It Down
I wish everybody who's interested in awakening could read this book. I'm a lifelong learner and I've been reading all kinds of "spiritual" books for 40 years. I've noticed that even the most beautiful and enlightened teachers have a way of talking *around* the Ultimate, perhaps to draw you further in, or whatever, but Nisargadatta has a way of taking you right INTO It. Over and again he engages the questioner right where they are and, usually in several short exchanges, delivers them some of the most simple and most profound Insights right in their lap. Show-stoppingly amazing! That's why I say he "throws it down;" again and again, there's just no beating around the bush. I can only imagine sitting in the room with him when he's really on a roll. A brilliant man, with almost no formal education, he's clearly not selling anything, and he's definitely not attached to anybody buying what he's NOT selling. This is one of the most important books I've ever read, honestly, with every page conveying priceless insights, all immediately practical. The only downside, if you could call it that, is that it's presented as it was delivered, in dialogue form, so you might have to underline or highlight the pearls and then go back to bring topics together to get a more cohesive view of was said on many ideas and themes. (But that's just extra work and not really necessary.) If you just read the first ten pages of dialogues you'll see for yourself. It's all so simple, and it's very real and applicable. So what does he say? Well, he can fill you in on all the details much, much better than I ever could. After this book I might recommend one more, The Ultimate Medicine--dialogues toward the end of his life, when he had little time left and insisted on no "kindergarten spirituality" talk. But I Am That is definitely the place to start. You might also check out some of the short videos of him on YouTube--he is animated and delightfully emphatic, and he says some of the most remarkable things right off the top of his head. In my humble opinion he is a living Veda. I know that's a big statement, but I mean it. You just can't go wrong with this book. Buy it. I'll bet you read it twice. (I did.)

This teaching cuts everything away
His direct teaching leaves zero ground for the ego to stand. There is no confusion here just a choice.

good enough
the formatting is an eyesore, and theres many typos, but the content makes up for it

Truly A Spiritual Classic
This book should be savored. Rather than plowing through it, I recommend only reading a chapter per day so you have time to digest the insights. After finishing the book, read it again.
