Product Description The Studor Maxi-Filtra is a robust two-way vent that eliminates bad odors with a sturdy filter designed specifically for outdoor drainage applications. It contains a replaceable active carbon filter that operates as a two-way vent, filtering air in both directions. Its robust design means the Maxi-Filtra can be used vertically or horizontally and can be installed in hard-to-reach places. For use externally, it operates as a 2-way vent, filtering air in both directions. Particularly for use with septic tanks, the Maxi-Filtra may also be installed on open vents already existing or for new buildings where regulations insist on their inclusion within the building's drainage system. For best results, the Studor Maxi-Filtra should be installed with Studor Air Admittance Valves (AAVs). Fits 3- or 4-inch connections. Dimensions: 5.25-inch vent height x 4.875-inch vent diameter. ABS construction. Includes 4-inch rubber gasket. From the Manufacturer Allow air to enter DWV systems to equalize pressure when water drains out of the system; eliminate the need for costly roof penetrations and vent piping. No. 1ATD5 vents up to 500 DFUs on a stack; No. 1ATD6 vents up to 160 DFUs on a branch and up to 24 DFUs on a stack. No. 15W940 has a replaceable cabon filter to reduce plumbing drainage system odors.

**Q: can it be mounted outside upside down?**
A: I believe this would allow water to sit inside it and affect it's capability to work properly. Also, if you live in a cold climate then it could freeze.

**Q: Is this an actual air admittance valve, or simply a charcoal filter?**
A: It's both a vent and a filter. I use it to keep rain and snow out of the venting system. The air comes out the bottom of the cap. Works fine for me.

A: Yes - it includes the filter.
