Imagine my horror when the urethane-dipped brush SMEARED my paint! It was only the black paint, too, which was so odd. To resolve this issue, I bought a spray can of the same product and used it as a base coat first, then I continued with brushing on the urethane without any issues. I did one coat of the spray, then two additional coats brushed on. I could have used only the spray can for all the coats, but I had already invested in the quart container. And if I was spraying on, I probably would have done four coats total. The satin finish is excellent for the outdoor plywood cutouts - note that a matte finish usually looks hazy, and glossy might be too bling for you lol. Does it stick to the paint? Does it yellow over time?** A: Kate, I've used on outdoor things such as gnomes, large metal butterflies over the last 8-9 months without any yellowing. It is Modern Masters Master Clear Supreme.
