I had all colors of ink for the kids to choose from. I decided at the last minute not to use the black ones only because then the kids might mix up the ink colors from quill to quill.However, if I had only 1 color of ink (say, black or blue), then I would have definitely used these. And I know we would have loved them. The kids really thoroughly enjoyed using the quill feather pens for writing. They really loved them and did a great job.
