It looks exactly as the picture, same brown resealable package with a pound Shea Butter in plastic resealable baggie which is excellent because you can take out the product without messing up the brown pack, your hands, or product itself. Shea Butter - Its ivory white, none grainy, looks like a mix between play-dough and butter. It feels smooth to the touch and breaks apart fairly easy. In MY patch (which could be different for everyone else) in a small dime size amount, it only two about 5-6 seconds for it to melt from my body temperature and my average body temp is between 96-98 degrees U.S. The Shea Butter itself is soft enough to scoop out easily with a spoon, even a plastic one and I could mix a palm size amount with essential and other oils without heating it up first which is again; excellent, because I can make homemade body butters without going through the traditional methods of a double boiler. This also means unlike the boiler method you have to be very careful of the amount of oils the Shea Butter gets mixed into because it can easily become borderline Shea 'liquid'..unless you are making a shampoo, that's good too! Thankfully! This order does come with a recipe book the you have to DL online if you are into the type of DIY like myself. The smell of the Shea butter is earthy clay, some people might not like this, some people do, but you can add fragrance and the 'Shea' smell will tone down but not completely go away. Overall - Keep in mind as much as I praise this product and will most likely buy more in the future. I do have to add this product is not for everyone. If your skin/hair type doesn't absorb well, or you have very sensitive skin/hair, or skin/hair sucks up a lot of moisture (like my hair).... this product is not for you. Thank you!** A: there are many sources out there saying WHITE is the real unrefined or that YELLOW is, the truth is that out there, there is both yellow and ivory(white) shea butter that are 100 percent raw/organic/unrefined (REAL) it just matters if it came from the east or west part of africa, i think its from the west it is yellow and from the east it is the whiter color, the reason for this is because of the nut that its came from differs in color depending on what part of africa. With that said you can still have a fake product that isnt 100 percent unrefined or truly real shea butter even if its the color you think it should be. Although I honestly believe this product is legit, and one of the few real ones on amazon. **Q: How does this come packaged? I'm okay with some melting...but don't want it melted out of the package on the front porch.** A: Mine arrived today totally liquified. The inner bag had leaked and a very small amount seeped through the outer packaging. It was nearly a hundred here so if you live in a hot climate, I'd wait to order it until cooler weather arrives. Great customer service! I decided to try the unscented version and am so glad I did. It's perfect for my sensitive nose. No aroma at all. And the product is doing wonders for my skin after just two days. After sleeping with it on all night I wake up with skin that does not feel dry but moisturizer. Can't wait to see what happens after a week, a month and longer. Apparently raw shea butter both hydrates and moisturizes, unlike other oils and fats. It sinks into the skin AND provides a protective layer. ORIGINAL POST. For a while I've wanted to try pure shea butter for it's great moisturizing properties. Aware that the smell can be a bit much I bought this anyway. The texture is great and it absorbs well. Not greasy at all. My hands feel great. For this is give five stars. The smell, however, is too much for my sensitive nose. It definitely has a smokey aroma and a bit of a chemical smell. It's not something I can use because of it.
