A little common sense and the additional use of the hot pads pretty well alleviates that problem. There are a couple of problems that are going to be difficult to overcome. I do wear a large size work glove and the length of the fingers are too short and make it impossible to have freedom of movement and adequate dexterity. The short fingers are also complicit in the gloves fitting too tight. Once you get a little meat juice on the gloves, they are too slick to be able to remove them. Continuously washing them off while cooking is an unacceptable waste of time and effort. I will continue to try and find a happy medium for the use of these gloves. They still have not been tested by the process they were actually purchased for, that is the shredding of pork shoulder into pulled pork. Should that prove to a satisfactory process, I will probably raise my score to three stars. If not, then the two star rating stands.UPDATE: While they performed acceptably on the pulled pork test, the two stars stand. The short fingers and the slickness caused by the meat juice override any positive aspects of the gloves. While handling the hot pork roasts was marginally acceptable from a heat stand point, they did not provide the comfort I had hoped for. Using just one glove and the meat rake in the other the glove was still unacceptably difficult to remove. I was beginning to wonder if I was going to damage the glove before I could get it off. I tried to find enough positive items to alter my score, but if anything, I could only find enough acceptable things to keep me from dropping my score to one star. ### ⭐⭐⭐ They're slippery, clumsy, and do not stop heat *by L***S on November 11, 2016* I thought these would be an improvement over tongs for just reaching into the grill and flipping steaks or burgers. They work okay for that, but the silicone does get very slippery with meat juice. The fingers are nice, but they are still pretty awkward, so this isn't a big improvement over oven mitts.They also don't insulate from heat very well. I can do quick things on the grill with them, but I would not even consider pulling a casserole dish out of the oven with these. I would use classic oven mitts for that. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Silicone-based heat protection for the cook! *by B***E on December 17, 2015* Received this order promptly. These silicone gloves and pads are a great addition to my kitchen. When scorching hot liquids and oils contact the gloves/pads, they do not penetrate and burn you as they would with fabric hot-pads or mittens. The silicone pads are also very useful in keeping hot dishes firmly in place on the counter or table while the food is being cut for serving. Since they do conduct heat, they are not meant for holding onto hot things for more than a few minutes, but that will usually allow one to position hot things for the next step.
