The resistance bands wore out after some considerable time, but as I could only stretch it with 3 bands, the other 2 became spares. When the spares went (they eventually came away from the retaining ends) but after a long time. Likewise with the new one from Amazon, I cannot pull it across the chest with 5 bands (yet! Wishful thinking?... I am 69), so I have 2 spare, with only using 3 of the 5 bands. This expander seems to be much stronger and though I am guessing the resistance bands may come away from the retaining ends eventually after much use I am expecting this expander to last a very long time, especially as I have two spare bands, with only using the expander with three bands. One can buy packs of resistance bands if and when the bands go.
