I too need repellent pads because I bought some discounted refills with pads that didn’t work. I now have a number of candles but no functioning pads. I tried getting by with using a tea candle and extending the life of the repellent insert but it doesn't work very well. The candle and repellent insert lasts for at least 6 hours and they go hand in hand. I think every refill that I have purchased comes in a pair - 2 candles and 2 inserts. These are the most effective mosquito deterrents that I have ever purchased. Use them in all setting in MN and FL and they are amazing. Electric, aromatic devices, nothing at all gave me good results. Until I decided to buy this. I turn it on every morning when I go out and it scares them all day. And I only turn it on while I'm away and then cut it where it's on and save the rest for the next day. It has given me a lot of results. It has a somewhat noticeable smell but if you put it in a remote corner it does not feel so much and still acts very well in a very large area. The only bad thing to take into account is that being delicate, of the two times I have ordered the product I have always received at least one broken.
