The first ride was 20 miles in 43-48 degree temperatures and about 20-30mph winds. It was not a fun ride due to the wind, but the jacket did a wonderful job of keeping the wind off of me. All I had was a summer jersey with light arm-warmers underneath, and I was plenty warm. The second ride was 36 miles in temperatures ranging from 37-40 degrees or so. I stuck with a lighter jersey and arm warmers, and the jacket performed flawlessly. I would not hesitate to recommend this jersey. The only improvements that I can see are the zipper in the front and the pocket in the back. I am hoping that the zipper will last a few years of heavy use, and storing and accessing items in the back pocket can get a little annoying with just a flap and Velcro. I'm guessing PI made these choices in order to keep the jacket lightweight and packable, so I don't really mind them too much. I am 5'8 170lbs and the medium fits perfectly. I have uploaded a picture of the blue jacket so that the fit can be seen. Hopefully it helps in selecting this jacket! ### ⭐⭐ Does well as a windbreaker but FAILS as a rain jacket. *by N***O on Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2014* I bought the (screaming) canary yellow in size medium. I'm a 5' 11'' guy with broad shoulders and the jacket fits me well. I like the visibility of the jacket and its effectiveness at blocking wind chill. However, what sold me on this jacket was its advertised water-resistance, which I misinterpreted to mean waterproof. I quickly learned I was wrong. After riding with this jacket through a moderate downpour, my arms and front torso were completely drenched. The jacket offered as much water resistance as any long sleeved shirt would have given under similar circumstances. At best, this jacket is "splash resistant". For that reason, I'm disappointed in this purchase.If this jacket was sold as a windbreaker, it would be a good deal. However, I think the description of the product oversells its water resistant capabilities, which may lead some people to think it's waterproof. It most certainly is not. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pearl Izumi Elite Barrier Jacket!!! *by C***Z on Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2015* When I purchased this I was in the market for a light jacket that would protect me from the wind on cool mornings when it was too warm to wear my riding jacket and repel water if I got caught in the rain or just to keep me dry in heavy mist.I was able to use this jacket twice so far. Once on a family trip during a pretty heavy down pour. It was lite enough that I was able to wear it while driving and not get hot and sticky but provided enough protection from the wind and rain so that when I had to jump out and run in to a store I didn't get cold or soaked.This morning was the first time I used if for cycling and I thought it worked great. I was 54 degrees and not being a native New Englander that's cool enough for me to want long sleeves while out on the bike. I did some revolver drill out ten miles and than did a nice pace back. To give you an idea of how hard I was pushing it my entire ride put me just under a 100% average output of my FTP. I mention that because as hard as I was pushing it I didn't get hot or drenched from sweat. The jacket was damp from where it had absorb my sweat but not soaked.I'm 5'7" and 155lbs. and a little stocky. I ordered the medium sized jacket and it fits perfect. The overall quality is good and the jacket looks great and is comfortable also. The pocket in the back is one large pocket that is secure with velcro at the top and seems to close well. I also took this jacket for a ride as a carry item just to see how well it rolls up and fits in my jersey pockets and had no problems or complaints with it as far as that's concerned.
