My previous front fender was right up against the crown of the fork, had a mounting system that used compression inside the fork. It never stayed put properly, tended to wiggle from side to side... and when I re-ran my brake cable it got pushed out of true and refused entirely to remain where it was supposed to. Its placement high up against the crown meant that while it did protect me from the worst of the spray getting me in the face, but even against puddles it didn't protect my feet from water off the tires. This one is placed under the bridge, not up under the crown. My first clue that this was going to be a better fender was riding through a small runoff stream over pavement - not a drop hit my feet. Riding in the rain was another pleasant surprise - the lower placement means it does a FAR better job keeping the spray off my feet and nothing gets up to my face even when riding in heavy rain. I mean, heavy rain will get your feet from above anyway, but at least this fender's placement isn't contributing to it! Its mounting system - Velcro straps (wish they'd had just a little more than they gave me) and side-wing mounts to secure it to the fork - means that it will not meander from side to side while I ride. I installed this on my 26" fat tire with no issues. As for the width, the fender is a little over 3". It does not completely cover my 5" tires but your 2.5 tires should be a perfect fit. **Q: can these be cut to size...I have toe overlap and don't want to keep kicking it. Also can these be used on a rigid fork?** A: You cannot cut this one, but they offer it in a smaller size. **Q: Has anyone used this on rear wheel?** A: I used the short one on my rear. 2020 Giant Stance 29 I did have to make new holes. It was not difficult at all. If you own a mountain bike, you should have the skill and common sense to figure it out. Best fender out there for the rear. **Q: how wide is it?????** A: The MugGuard is 85mm wide and will fit most standard MTB suspension forks fitted with disc brakes and a forward-facing arch. Please measure the width of the fork below the arch, to ensure compatibility. The 'legs' of the guard extend down 150mm, please ensure there is no more than 140mm distance from the underside of the arch to the top of the 'lowers' to allow room for the fasteners. It will not protect your back if you ride in the rain or wet mud, but it’s good enough that I keep them on year round. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Almost Perfect *by M***R on May 2, 2024* Fenders on that come bikes these days never seem to actually stop mud/water/road dirt splashing up and onto the rider/bike, which makes them essentially pointless. If it only stops 80% of the splash, I still get muddy. This replaces the hotch-potch front fender I had rigged on my bike, using the supplied front and rear fenders combined, with a piece of plastic packing to fill the gap between. I bought a separate rear fender which works perfectly. That didn't stop 100% of splash, kept working loose, and looked odd. This was very quick to fit (velcro straps I cut to length), fits on my front suspension forks perfectly, and is lightweight, unobtrusive and quiet. I'd have liked it to be about 6" longer at the back for extra protection, but it is what it is.
