It filters the input and divides it into separate frequency ranges to then be amplified individually and reproduced by different transducers. The eqs is an equalizer. It alters the frequency response by adding or subtracting amplitude to parts of the signal. Basically almost everything this does the eqs doesn't (except the subsonic filter ). They're completely different products. **Q: For the midrange setting I understand it has a hpf at 250hz and up but when I hook this to my midrange amp do I leave the amp at full range or hpf** A: you would use full range on the amp **Q: I have a component set for front should i still use the crossover that came with them?** A: i left my component crossover on with my install and it sounds fine to my ear. Those crossovers were designed to separate the frequency for tweeters and midrange and depending on the outputs you use on the 6xs you choose what has more presence the midrange or the tweeter. **Q: Can it be used as a 3 way active crossover? Solid equipment, great sound. I've never had any problems with their gear or with the company. Top notch stuff. I bought the programming module to switch the highpass to 3500hz so I could triamp my home stereo system (and remove passive crossovers from my speakers).
