You have to expand the perimeter to reach 48" though, ring that holds it all together is probably only 38"-40" in diameter. Easier to store but you need to work with it a bit to get the full 48" out of it. They are NOT 16" in diameter, at best they are 12". The lights work well, but they are just not the size I expected and ordered. I plan to contact the provider to let them know I am disappointed and would like to return them.
