They have a light taste and almost no scales or internals. They are expensive and the taste is no better than my favorite value sardine, the Season brand in olive oil, sometimes found at half the price of the Parodi brand. Also, Parodi sardines come in a case of ten verses other brands (like Season) which come in a case of twelve. That said, and if you don't have a problem with their expensive cost, they are a great canned sardine and deserving of their excellent reputation. Review: At a level above the best. - My friends and I get together every few weeks and have sardines from all over. Traditionally, I have considered the smaller the better in the sardine world and have bought accordingly. Then, I ran across these Angelo Parodi - Portuguese Sardines and decided to try them, sight unseen. Well, at our latest luncheon gathering I decided to try these, opened the can, and much to my disappointment there they were, three giant sardines. Oh, no. But, I had to man up amongst my friends, so I dipped out one fish and delicately ate a small piece. Couldn’t believe it. This giant fish actually was good, and the more I ate, the better it got. After finishing of the whole can, I can say without reservation this is the best tasting sardine brand I have ever eaten, and I’ve had them from all over the world.
