I thought if I stretch it on bars and prime it - it's kind of the same thing.** A: Its a fine smooth linen. I think it would cope with stretching and priming. I stretched mine over a board and glued a small oil painting on it without sag. Hope that helps. **Q: Is the fabric fire retardant?** A: No it is not. I am sorry **Q: Is this fabric pre washed** A: No its soft but stiff.
