The Bogart gets its name from icon Humphrey Bogart who wore a similar brim and block in many of his most famous movies. Levine Genuine Panama Hats are DuPont Teflon treated for exceptional durability and resistance to water, oil and stains. Whereas other, non treated hats will eventually crack or decay due to handling and the oils on your fingertips, our panama straw dress hats will last extra years due to their DuPont Teflon coating and will not crack, even if you occasionally forget to handle your handle your hat by the brim as you always should. Crown cracking is further prevented by the glued "crown tip" inside your hat which strengthens the front of the hats crown. This hat is trimmed with a basic gentleman's brown grosgrain bow band. The band is sewn close to the hat, and is approximately 1-inch in width for a classic look. The band is sewn on for a finished look and so that it will not fall off, but other hat bands can be hooked on over your existing hat band if you choose. The Levine Bogart Panama is finished with a DRI-CLOTH comfort cotton sweat band on the interior, which wicks away sweat and keeps you cool and dry. I'm not disappointed with the product if there is full disclosure of variances that can be explained from the manufacturing process. I find your site prices as being high with comparison of other sites and without amazon's pricing I wouldn't be able to order direct. I have ordered a number of items and have experienced secure shipping packages if not accompanied by a hat box. As the attached picture shows the hat which was suppose to be a creased flat crown 'Optimo' what arrived was a fedora style crown, which was damaged. My last three orders through amazon have been damaged so I'm not sure if the problem lies there. i can appreciate the challenges of doing business but I do expect consistency with the process when spending these types of monies, this hit and miss experience is unacceptable.
