An A4 sheet of paper in landscape orientation fits perfectly, with 5mm gap left. The antislip bar is about 3mm high, and ipad holder is even lower, both have smooth curvess, so it's not a problem if e.g. you have a slightly larger laptop - it's perfectly fine if a laptop will stand above the pad holder. The desk is just the right size. It sits on my lap and does not obstruct the driver in any way. the cushion under the desk makes it very comfortable to use, the wood section and built in handle seem to be very sturdy and there is a plastic ridge near the bottom edge to prevent your tech from sliding down onto your lap. all great stuff. my nigggles i am finding while I am writing this are that the surface is super slippery and smooth so if our car turns, my keyboard and / or phone slide too easily off to the side. the slot integrated into the handle to hold a phone or tablet is too narrow for either my iPhone X or my Google Pixel. They just tip forward, rather than leaning back, which makes me nervous. I am still happy with this product but will have to find some kind of tape to place on the top to stop items skittering off.
