It's cleanser in bar form, not pure soap made with lye so it's way less stripping and not super alkaline, which skin is supposed to be on the acidic side. As a cleanser, it's easier to wash off than normal bar soap. It has a very light and not unpleasant smell (some fragrance free stuff smells awful) but definitely FRAGRANCE FREE. I get so so itchy and tight skin from almost all fragrance in any form. All fragrance free products have a light smell that virtually disappears. Fragrance free products are still made with ingredients, not air or water. It cleans well, lathers well. It dries my skin DRAMATICALLY LESS than any liquid soap, including cream or moisturizing soaps. I like it a lot. It takes up a ton less space as a bar compared to liquid soap.
