One for home - and then after how well it went - I bought one for where I visit regularly.Training - First attempts: Admittedly I gave up on my first few attempts. My dog (adult chihuahua) really didn't care for the spray at all, and many days we would end up going for a walk or to doggy day care before I had gotten her to use it. Tried for a few days on the balcony - gave up. Then later tried again in bathroom - gave up. etc.Training - What worked for us! - I specify 'us' since it was about figuring out what worked for both myself and my dog. First of all, I got sick and going down multiple flights of stairs in apartment building for each potty break needed to change. I was determined - and that was key! Next, I had to fully commit a couple days to watching her like a hawk, showing her the spot every hour or two, and working the schedule so there wouldn't be any other option for her. People say small dogs can't hold it -- but wow - from last potty break the night before - she would hold it till around 9pm the next day till finally giving in and using the appointed box. There were 2-3 days like that.Beyond my determination, another key was I started giving her a favorite treat ONLY when she used her 'potty box'. She didn't get that treat for anything else. Ta-da ... she uses the box. Gotta watch though --- sometimes she would try to get a treat by just getting in the box. :-pAdditional tip: I had been teaching her the 'go potty' command by saying it every time she went when we were outside - and it helped to have that command to assist in getting her to understand what to do in the box. Getting her to go into the box was easy, but getting her to 'use' it rather than sitting or lying down was harder.Traveled at Christmas and got a new box to take and leave there. Fingers crossed she would 'get it' quickly. She did! :-) Different location, but she caught on really really fast. (With winter temperature there below zero - we put it inside in laundry room - yippee no need for peed on booties)Soooo glad I got this --- I now enjoy easy mornings / evenings / ... just letting her outside on the balcony. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ took a while patience won *by D***H on Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2011* My chihuahua stayed away from inside this pan for the longest time. I kept a pee pad by it to give him a hint. He kept using the pee pads, poohed not far from but not in for months. Finally last night he used it for the first time. He came down to let me know, bouncing all over the bed. I did not get his message at first but in the morning when I cam up I saw he had used it for his pooh for the first time. Later in the day I noticed he had tried to use it to pee as well but missed the inside and pee was on the floor under but I was glad he at least tried.Today I was cleaning the bathroom and picking up the mail and could hear him on the other side of the door where the pan was located. After a while I went in to see. He had again poohed in it so I praised him again and again. He seemed very happy that he knew what it was for finally. It was especially nice because it has been quite cold outside today and promises to be very cold the next several days. He has not really seemed anxious to be outside for long.Thanks for this little pan and a lot of patience, my little chi figured it all out. ### ⭐⭐ Rascal Dog Litter Box "Little Squirt" *by G***A on Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2013* Pros: High sides and good containment of parts so busy little teeth don't dismantle it.Cons: Really, REALLY small! My 7lb Pomchi can barely turn around in it. Get the larger size even if you have an itty bitty dog. Thick grass pad seems to hold urine and start to smell, even after washing and drying. Also, grass pad has some kind of rubberized black paint that constantly flakes off.Summary: I read rave reviews about this expensive dog-park and I think it's because the construction discourages home-alone pets from dismantling and chewing on it. I work from home, so I found the Potty-Patch to work better for me. It's slightly larger, has a thinner grass mat that cleans quickly and doesn't smell as bad, and my little buddy likes it better.
