Was packaged nicely in bubble wrap envelope.If you, as I, repair our own vehicles, to save $80.00 an hour labor charges, you know it helps to be able to read the codes and then reset theOn Board Computer!The Excelvan U480 Car Auto Diagnostic Scanner works great, and showed my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport, with V6 SOHC engine, the lean conditions of P0171 (lean left bank), PO174 (Lean Right Bank), and PO455 (Vacuum leak).I found the disconnected vacuum hose, and clipped off the hardened end, reattaching it. No other codes came up, so, this vehicle, bought on Craigslist for $1700.00, is a real bargain, with 140,000 miles, and should work well for another 360,000+miles! We have a couple more with >280,000 miles on them, without problems! Also, bought those others, All Wheel Drives, on CL for <$900,00 each.Excelvan U480 reads, and resets codes. It will give you the basic codes and you can use the book of codes that is provided or google those codes to get a general idea of what's going on. It helped me narrow down my issue to a bad distributor after replacing a few other parts. My codes were a bit "vague" on what was going on. Not the code readers fault, it just wasn't an issue where it threw a code that said "YOU HAVE A BAD DISTRIBUTOR" I had to figure that out with the provided codes my blazer was throwing. I'm in Illinois and all of the big box auto parts places here will do the same test for you for free and print out the results...Its then up to you to decipher whats going on with your vehicle. I could also use this to clear my codes and check engine light for a fresh start at seeing what's going on when the new codes started popping up.
