While technically true, the double sided tape and ribbon are both ridiculously sturdy. I've used nothing but the strap to carry my phone for over a month (samsung galaxy s10 plus -- not the lightest phone with a card holding phonecase on). I've even used the strap on a plane to hang my phone on the tray lock in front of me and watched a few movies the whole flight... and the strap has still stayed in place without budging or even stretching out.
