Review: Works on slugs and snails, stupid puppy keeps eating it all - Works great on snails, but my puppy keeps eating it. Last night she somehow got the whole thing open and spread it all over everywhere and was licking it up when I found her. Day before yesterday she did the same with coffee grounds. It says this stuff is non-toxic, but also hazardous to humans and pets. I really doubt it would hurt a dog much--this isn't the first time one of my dogs has eaten a little of it, and nothing ever came of it. But she's a young puppy and still only 30something pounds, and I really wasn't sure how much she ate before I found her scarfing up the mess, so just to be safe, I did the hydrogen peroxide trick anyway (you force-feed the dog hydrogen peroxide, and they vomit. I can't even count how many times I've had to do this to dogs over the years. It works every time.). Anyway, so now I have to buy more. But it's totally worth it! My petunias are beautiful right now, blooming healthy and lush and bright, whereas they were chewed down to the nubs of their leaves when I first put this stuff in the flower bed. As far as I can tell, my main problem is with snails. They are voracious and they wouldn't leave my petunias alone before I got this stuff, and they were even starting in on my begonias, which they're usually not all that interested in. I noticed a couple years back that the slugs and snails around here really love both tomatoes and petunias, both of which are in the nightshade family (I only knew this because I realized the two plants look sort of similar when they're very young, and they seem to be the favorites of local slugs and snails). So maybe this year I'll be able to grow my tomato plants before the slugs and snails completely massacre them. Or maybe it'll just keep the slugs and snails at bay while the stupid tomato worms take over :( We'll see!
Review: Snails were destroying my garden - now they are gone - I live in the PNW, slug central. It rains here all the time and the climate is built for them. I also have a pond, with beautiful, gigantic, fat, lily style foliage surrounding it. They were eating everything though. it was so bad, that when we would turn leaves over - we could find 20 easily in a matter of minutes. I didnt like the idea of any sort of pesticides because we have dogs and I have targeted my garden to wildlife (birds etc). I read the reviews on sluggo and saw it was animal safe, so I decided to try it. It began working instantly. I had to cut all of the previously damaged leaves out and as soon as I applied sluggo all over the garden, I stopped seeing any new damage when new growth came in. I have a large yard and i can tell when I need to re-apply. I wont see damage for a couple months and then all of the sudden, a few holes here and there because they are back, so I do a big re-application. Birds do eat it, which is irritating. it doesnt seem to hurt them, but if you have a large yard - I actually moved my bird feeder to a different location, so birds wouldnt hit the parts of the yard that I want the Sluggo to remain in. So this stuff totally works, but.. the snails will eat it, and the birds will eat it - so you have to re-apply through the season. I went through 2 bottles in my back yard this year. Totally worth it though. my plants look great. I will continue to use. i just sprinkle it all over the plant.. on top of leaves and a lot around the base. in my beds - I sprinkle it throughout. I'm in Seattle, it rains a lot.. doesnt seem to affect the pellets ability to do it's thing.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the difference between Sluggo and Sluggo Plus?**
A: Sluggo Plus kills more garden insects. Earwigs, cutworms, sow bugs, pill bugs. Sluggo is designed only to target snails and slugs. My opinion (and it is only that) is sow bugs and pill bugs and earwigs are neutral insects and are great mulchers. Earwigs like meat so will eat flies and other pesky insects. (Where's the beef??). I only use Sluggo and let the other insects do their thing.

**Q: Is Sluggo safe around animals right out of container?**
A: NO IT IS NOT - The iron doesn't harm anything, not even slugs. However, in combination with EDTA it kills slugs...AND mammals...pets, wildlife...kids. Obviously the larger and more healthy the mammal (human) and or the less they eat it's a matter of getting "only" sick, not dead. However...pets, wildlife...your kid?EDTA is not required to be listed in the US, but it is in Australia. The bait will attract mammals because of the cereal used to attract slugs. Veterinarians around the US are constantly warning their clients not to use this product AS DIRECTED."As Directed" - if you have animals (wildlife) around, sprinkle some under a board. Unintended mammals are unlikely to get to it, but the slugs will have two reasons to go there: protection from the sun and food: Sluggo. The bait will last longer out of the rain and you'll use less.

**Q: Can this be used over mulch or on concrete? They travel onto the porch. I have bushes but no garden.**
A: The bait draws the slugs and snails to it. Just spread it near the concrete - they will find the bait. It can be used over mulch.

**Q: Can I sprinkle it right onto “weed prevention” mat or should it go onto soil?**
A: I think you should sprinkle it where ever the snails travel. If you have landscape fabric that is exposed and they crawl across it, then yes, sprinkle some there. I don't have much bare earth in my yard. It is all lawn and landscape bark. I apply Sluggo to both these mediums with positive results.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ It works...
*by C***N on July 23, 2022*

I use Sluggo to keep the slimy guys from chomping my gardens to pieces. The product works. The reason I am giving only 4 stars isn't the quality of the product. It's that the container I paid dearly for says 2.5 lbs on it. The entire top portion of the container is empty. The seal wasn't tight and that caused me to make a quick weight measurement on the item before I used any. The entire thing...including the plastic container was only 2 pounds on my digital scale. Um...that isn't right. Since I need it I am using it but am not happy with this.
