The elastic straps do a decent job of holding it in place. The fabric is reasonably soft but in no way could be described as water resistant. The product photo of water beading on the surface is very misleading.I have a dog that likes to chew her toys on the couch often leaving a patch of saliva. With this cover I was hoping to be able to wipe it up however the fabric immediately absorbs liquids leaving a wet patch.I would not describe it as water resistant at all. ### ⭐⭐ chair covers *by J***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 November 2018* Unfortunately they would not stay on the chairs which is a disappointment as the advert says non slip, there are two sponge rods to push down the sides to hold the covers there, but they still manage to slip off, which is a shame.
