I wasn't expecting then to have lids that I have to take off in order to use them. Since I use these in the kitchen the lid is essential to keep out moisture which would gum up the grinders. I like the large capacity. Won't have to refill so often. It's easy to change the size of the grind. I like my pepper with a rough grind but salt with a fine grind.
