## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are the bells silver or gold in color?**
A: The bells are silver in color with a brown fabric strap.

**Q: I would like to hang these on my outside screen door in my liana. It does get wet from rain. Do these bells tarnish?**
A: I have one set on the back door that is under a covered deck so there is no problem with them getting wet. The other set is at the front door that does occasionally get rained on. Living in Idaho everything dries up so quickly there would probably never be a problem. I leave them out year round and they have never had tarnish on them.

**Q: Is the bell fairly loud? My cat runs to the door when I come home and I don't want her running out. I want to shake the bells so she backs up.**
A: Loud enough that if my puppy hits them hard, I can hear them upstairs. They are like big jingle bells. Not like a big gong bell sound. Hope this helps.

**Q: How loud? I work on the 2nd story at opposite end of the house. Are these gentle "Santa sleighbells"? There aren't many of them. thx. mb**
A: We live in single story ranch house and can hear our goldendoodle "ring" the bells ( he walks between the wall and the bells letting them fall back against the wall) from the opposite end of the house. We are not able to hear him when we are in the basement though.

    treat training

*by T***G on Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2023*

the bells themselves are cute. a lil short for my doors and short legged yorkie. shes so small that when she touches the bells, they don't jingle. I added some lighter weight bells to see if that helps but again my yorkie girl is small and lightweight. during introduction to the bells she quickly learned if she toyched it she received a reward. so, not so much for pitty but mire training me to give her a treat... again product is lovely, this may be operator error that my puppy thinks it means feed me. i still have wirk to do. good luck to you all though.

Best (and worst) decision ever! Haha

*by J***I on Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2014*

I had never seen a dog ring a bell to go outside before, but once I heard about it, I knew it was something I wanted to train our puppy to do. I bought this a couple of weeks before Greyson came home with us, and started "training" right from the start. Even though we were initially carrying him outside to go potty, we would ring the bell ourselves, and say "ring the bell" every time. After about 3 weeks of being home, he rang it for the first time on his own. He was in the living room with us, and he was acting a bit weird (you start to recognize the signs of when they have to go!!), so I asked if he needed to go out, and he went straight to the door and rang the bell!!! He had been ringing it for a few days before that, but I think it was more to play with it. If your puppy does this, I would recommend that, even if they are just playing with it, especially in the beginning, anytime they touch the bell, take them outside so they can really make the association between the bell and going out. I will say that now at 7 months, Greyson definitely abuses the system, and rings it whenever he wants to just go outside. But if I tell him no (cos I know he doesn't have to go), he will walk away from it. It's quite funny as you can tell how badly he has to go by the way he rings it. Sometimes it will just be a little nudge with the nose, and a tiny ring, and others he will push the bell all around so its ringing like mad. He's very persistent haha.I would like to caveat this review by explaining that he did not have constant access to the bell, and that's maybe something we should have done differently. Since he was still potty training, he spent about 90% of his time gated in the kitchen, so he could not ring the bell even if he wanted to. I'm sure others would have this training completed much sooner than 3 weeks if they make sure the pup can always access the bell.Definitely recommend. This is a fun and easy thing to teach your dog, and it helps immensely with potty training. Also sure to get a few laughs of delight from your guests when your puppy rings the bell. ;)

A helpful training aid that may make your life a bit easier

*by K***Z on Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2017*

A straightforward, useful product for training your dog and making your life a bit easier. To be clear, these are just bells on a ribbon. That's it. That's all they need to be, but it's not like you are buying some miracle product--you still need to do the work of actually training your dog to use them. That said, training proved reasonably simple and most dogs should be able to figure out a way to hit, bump, or tap the bells to get them to ring. The bells seem to be at an appropriate height for most dogs to use, and while the included ribbon is obviously not at all chew proof, it is certainly strong enough to be constantly knocked about by a dog.My only small complaint is that they might have made the bells a bit bigger or put a few more of them on in order to make the sound a bit louder. While some dogs might knock the heck outta these things and make a racket, I feel like the average dog just bumping them doesn't make the bells ring quite loud enough to be heard from more than one room away. This isn't a huge issue, but certainly one to be aware of.Overall I am satisfied with this product and can comfortably recommend giving it a try.NOTE: Unless you want the bells ringing every time you open your front/back door, I suggest hanging them on a hook or knob close to the door, such as a closet door, which is what I did. It cuts down on the ringing significantly, and won't confusing the training of your dog every time you open the front/back door to go outside without the pooch.
