I use star bucks but would be better to use the course grind for it get the full flavor. I usually use the Keruig but found that the FP gives a much richer coffee flavor. I will probably use the FP as my primary mode of coffee making for now on. The only down side is cleaning the grinds. Not as convenient as just throwing a paper basket or pod away but worth the extra effort. I learned how to use the FP by watching videos on YouTube. You do need a supply of hot water; either microwave, stove or electric kettle. This item is very sturdy & well made. I can tell if it is made of glass or plastic. But I am not worried about it breaking. The only purpose of the press it to keep loose leaves from homing up above the filter. I used it a handful of times over the past 2 months for making tea in my office, just to find today that the filter screen has for some reason warped around the edges and it is now allowing everything to float up above the filter (I use it for herbal tea which has pretty large-size leaf pieces, that the filter should have no troubles containing). It needs to be nearly right angles to the carafe and it's much shallower than that.
