The are small, lightweight, bright, and you can clip them on anywhere.I wanted a red/green and white headband I could wear when I rowed my little dinghy from the boat to shore. No one makes such a thing that I found. But I took these lights, and a standard white LED headband, and attached these red and green lights to the back of the strap with a couple plastic ties, red to port and green to starboard. They worked perfectly. Now I just slide these over my head and turn them on and, pesto! Instant nav lights. When I'm under motor power I slide the head band around so the green/red is in the front and white in the back.With the extra pair I'll keep as backups in the main nav light system goes down. Very handy. If I have problems with longevity I'll report later.Edit: Dropped from five stars to three stars as I learned these cute little lights are not water resistant, much less water proof. I had them in a zip lock bag with my LED head lamp and (unknown to me) a little bit of moisture got in the bag. LED head lamp handled it no sweat. These little green/red LEDs completely rusted out. The plastic/rubber cover should be able to handle some rain, but I imagine one good soaking with a wave or spray and they'll be toast. Something sold as even temporary nav lights for a boat should be a little more water resistant, if not water proof. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Safe and legal moonlight kayaking, Great value. *by M***R on Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2016* I bought these for moonlight kayaking. you can either secure them around the straps/bungees on the widest part of the kayak, or around the paddle on the appropriate sides. I prefer placing them on the paddles, especially when sharing the water with larger motorized boats that could easily miss the lights lower on the water. The lights moving up and down when you paddle, are more visible.These lights are very bright, and if you remember that port is red on left, and starboard is green on right. it is easy to place the lights correctly on your boat."Port and starboard are nautical terms for left and right, respectively. Port is the left-hand side of or direction from a vessel, facing forward. Starboard is the right-hand side, facing forward."The extra batteries are a great bonus!
