I appreciated the collapsible bottom (black portion) because it was a space-saver in my pack. The one negative was the handle is a bit on the flimsy end. I still thought it was reasonably functional, because there was relatively good insulation which allowed me to hold it more completely even with hot liquids. But it is worth noting if you're someone looking to hold the mug by the handle. Very easy to clean, too!
