I am solarizing my garden with plastic, and need to know the temp at different depths. The scale on this one is the best, as it does not waste valuable dial space on measuring from 20 degrees to 0 degrees, which I will never need to measure. So the rest of the scale is expanded and therefore more accurate and easier to read accurately. It seems to work. After a week I measured 110 degrees at 5 inches and 85 degrees at 10 inches. I put tape around the tube at the 5 and 10 inch marks.
