The light comes more from the sides as expected. can't be exposed to weather or enclosed fixtures. still it looks good, a real nice bulb with limited uses. Using them for over two months not one has failed and love the look of the light. They are not dimmable but if you do a search you might find some that are. the 4 watt isn't too bright and I ended up later buying the 6 watt bulb for a little more light.As an Update, After 6 months of use in my bathroom, 2 out of the 6 bulbs have burned out. I heard a pop and the bulb stopped working. I'll see how long the other 4 last.
