No thinner needed out of the bottle - just shake the dropper bottles and pour a small amount into your airbrush cup and you're ready to airbrush paint! Paint Designed for Everyone The Army Painter Warpaints Air range consists of a myriad of colours; Everything from warm reds and cold blues, muted yellows and fluorescent greens. Even some of the metallics are tinted with colour, so only your imagination is the limit when working with these paints. For a beginner, airbrushing can seem like a daunting venture into a world of laborious things such as correct thinning ratios to avoid clogging your airbrush nozzle and pre-mixing colours in the airbrush cup to consistently achieve the correct colour across an entire army project, to only name a few. The Army Painter aimed at solving these problems for the painters out there. Our paints are pre-thinned and ready to be poured in the airbrush, come with mixing balls pre-loaded and are neatly sorted into our suggested colour-triads. The Colour Triad System Base Base colours are often quite opaque and dark, making them perfect for the initial basecoat of your paint project. They establish the shadows and darker parts of the miniature and allow you to smoothly establish seamless subsequent layers of Mid and High colours, giving you the perfect colour transitions. You can find the name of a colour triad’s Base colour on the back of the bottle, underneath the names of the High and Mid colours. Mid Mid colours often represent the actual colour you want to portray in your paintjob and take up a large portion of the previous Base layer. Because of the semi-opaque nature of Mid colours, they blend in smoothly on top of the Base colour. The Mid colour is applied after the Base coat, but should not completely obscure the basecoat so that no shadows are visible. You can find the name of a colour triad’s Mid colour on the back of the bottle, between the names of the High and Base colours. High High colours act as the final layer of paint on top of the two previous Base and Mid colours. They are quite transparent and blend seamlessly into the colour transition created by the previous two layers. This last highlight creates a large amount of contrast and should be applied sparsely as to not obscure the Base and Mid layers completely. I use this for many applications - though ironically, I don't own an airbrush! Mixed with an oil paint, it makes a cheap and effective oil wash (more information on Youtube). It is also useful for removing stubborn paint from brushes without having to do a deep clean and can thin down most paints (not just airbrush paints). It is also priceless for clearing out the last few drops of paint from a pot (whether painting or decanting GW paints into dropper bottles). So many uses and you only need a couple of drops at a time - awesome!

I usually make my own airbrush thinner, but I needed something reliable to thin down citadel acrylic paint; so I could transfer from the pots into dropper bottles.
