The crayons and pastels were eliminated because the waxiness of them did not work for blending or layering. If you want to keep your book prettier, I would make some copies to practice techniques like blending from one color to the next as well as seeing what colors you like best if you are unsure. I probably messed up 4 pages before I got things figured out better. I am finding I like some of the layering and blending techniques. I'm even thinking about purchasing a better set of pencils, etc. As you can tell, I am having a lot of fun coloring...and teaching some techniques I've seen but never tried. I just need to make sure I'm going to stick with it before investing more money. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wonderful way to relax *by K***E on March 15, 2014* I got 7 of these books and love coloring them. You can get really creative. I don't have an artist's talent, so I enjoy creating my own color combinations, although there are colored pictures of all of them on the covers so you can follow those or come up with your own. These aren't not kids coloring books! They are more detailed, and I use colored pencils on some, fine point gel pens on others and a wide range of felt tip colors on most. I usually do these in the evening when I need to wind down and they work wonders for me. Upon receiving this wonderful book, I was amazed at the descriptions of each flower at the bottom of the pages. You can actually see what these flowers would look like as they have a comparable likeness of them on the covers, inside and out. You can still decide for yourself the coloring scheme you prefer, but it is nice to see and get an idea of each flower and stem.This book is best used with coloring pencils to give yourself a finer color pattern. I have tried both the crayons and pencils and the pencils give a sharper, clean look to each page.
